   A Week of Remembrance & Patriotism
Hello, Panther Families!
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! As we begin another great week at El Portal, we continue our September focus on Resilience—learning how to face challenges, keep going when things are difficult, and grow stronger through our experiences.
Patriot Day – Friday, September 11
This Friday, we will come together as an El Portal community to recognize Patriot Day and honor the importance of remembrance, unity, kindness, and service to others.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.
Our Patriot Day Assembly will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the quad.
Patriot Day provides us with an opportunity to teach our Panthers that even during difficult times, communities can come together with courage, compassion, and resilience.
We’re looking forward to another wonderful week of learning, growing, and showing our Panther Pride!

For the Fun Run we're at 51% registered and just under 50% of our fundraising goal, $14,705! We're so excited to see the support and effort our school is putting in and we are so grateful we get to keep all of the wonderful programs and field trips going with these donations!

Character Education and Patriotism

Character Education & Patriotism at Home
As we recognize Patriot Day on September 11, this week is a wonderful opportunity to talk with our Panthers about what it means to be a good citizen and how resilience can help strengthen our families, school, and community.
Patriot Day reminds us of the importance of kindness, courage, helping others, and coming together during difficult times, all qualities that connect beautifully to our September character trait of Resilience.
 Try It at Home!
This week, families can help reinforce these ideas with a few simple conversations and activities:
- Talk about citizenship: Ask your child, “What does being a good citizen look like at home, at school, and in our community?”
- Recognize helpers: Talk about people who help your community, first responders, teachers, military members, neighbors, volunteers, and others who serve.
- Share a resilience story: Tell your child about a time your family faced something difficult and worked together to get through it.
- Do something kind: Encourage your child to find one way to help someone else this week, at home, at school, or in the community.
Family Question of the Week:
“How can we show courage, kindness, and resilience when someone else needs our help?”
Small conversations at home can have a BIG impact. Together, we can help our Panthers grow into resilient learners, caring neighbors, and responsible citizens.

For everyone’s safety and to keep our dismissal traffic moving smoothly, please park your vehicle in a designated parking spot and walk to the T-shirt sale table in front of the office.
Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the traffic/pickup line while shopping.
