🐾 EP Paw Print On the Prowl – The Panther Pulse

Aug 17, 2026

What an amazing start to the new school year! 💙 EP Blue heart🐾 EP Paw Print

We kicked off the year with a very special Welcome Home Celebration and Ribbon Cutting as we officially reopened our beautifully renovated El Portal campus! Families had the opportunity to tour the campus, meet their teachers, visit classrooms, and enjoy an evening together as a Panther community. A huge thank you to our PTA for helping make the evening so special with food trucks and fabulous balloon photo backdrops for our families to enjoy. The campus looked beautiful, and it was wonderful to see so many of our Panthers back home!

Our first three days of school were also a great success! Students quickly began settling into their classrooms, learning new routines, reconnecting with friends, and getting to know their teachers. We loved seeing the excitement and energy throughout campus.

Our newly renovated parking lot has also helped our morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal run more smoothly. Thank you, families, for your patience as we continue to fine-tune our new procedures.

As a reminder, during afternoon dismissal, please pay close attention to the traffic signs and make sure you are in the correct lane before entering the student pick-up area:

  • 🚙 Blue Car Emoji Right Lane: Pick-up for students in 4th–6th grades
  • 🚗 Red Car Emoji Left Lane: Pick-up for students in 1st–3rd grades

Following the correct lane helps us keep traffic moving safely and efficiently for everyone. Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe for all of our Panthers!

We have a wonderful year ahead of us, and we are so excited to learn, grow, and make new memories together.

Character Education and Patriotism

August Character Trait: Respect

This month, our Panthers are focusing on Respect—showing care and consideration for ourselves, others, our school, and our community. At school, students will practice what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like as we establish classroom routines and expectations for a positive new school year.

Ways Families Can Support at Home:

  • Model respectful communication by listening, taking turns speaking, and using kind words.
  • Talk about respect for others and why everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and dignity.
  • Encourage responsibility and care for belongings, our school, our community, and the environment.
  • Practice the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
  • Recognize respectful choices when you see your child showing kindness, patience, or consideration for others.

Patriotism & Civic Education

During August, students will also begin learning about patriotism and civic responsibility, including the Pledge of Allegiance, proper flag etiquette, the Declaration of Independence, and patriotic songs. These lessons help students understand what it means to be a respectful and responsible member of their school, community, and country.

Our August historical figures are Thomas Jefferson and John Muir, giving students opportunities to learn about American history, citizenship, and respect for our country and environment.
